This is pissing me off! I always end up with a translator or getting definition is english!

It's good with etymology, examples, and idioms from many Spanish speaking countries not just Spain.

the first one did not have sentences, neither does this one, but is one very good dict. though, i never use it.

It's not difficult for a Spaniard to have one of this dictionaries. It's not more expensive than any other good dictionary of Spanish. I've got one at home.

Why not go to the very top? The Real Academia Espa帽ola is the regulatory board in charge of the Spanish language. You could change your lingo and use caliche, but when people ask you what language you speak, you will inevitably say Spanish, which they will automatically associate with Mexico.



A better option would be for you to educate those you speak with and make that mistake. Let them know that there are 22 countries in the world that speak Spanish, including some in Europe and even Africa!



Let them know that Spanish is the third largest language spoken in the world (Mandarin and English are the first two).



And finally put it in perspective. When they make a comment like that, tell them it's like saying that those who speak English are all Americans. Maybe that will knock some sense into them.

If you want to practice your Spanish talk with people who speak it. It's the best way to practice.

Here in US we face the same problem, Americans think that Mexicans are the only people who speak Spanish. I hate when people get confused with my nationality. For these reason, I use a lot my Salvadorean caliche to make them understand I'm not Mexican....
